About This Tool

This tool pulls the text out of a PDF into plain, copyable form — shown live in a preview box, ready to copy to the clipboard or download as a .txt file, with page markers preserved. Extraction runs entirely in your browser, which makes it safe for contracts, statements, and reports you wouldn't paste into a random website.

What It Can and Cannot Read

A PDF contains selectable text only if it was created digitally (exported from Word, generated by software, or OCR-processed). Scanned documents are photographs of pages — there is no text inside them to extract, and this tool will tell you so per page rather than returning gibberish. Converting scans to text requires OCR (optical character recognition), which is a much heavier process this tool deliberately doesn't attempt; run the scan through your scanner software's OCR option first, then extract here.

Practical Uses

  • Reusing clauses and paragraphs: pull text from an agreement or report into a new draft without retyping.
  • Getting data out of statements: extracted bank-statement text can be cleaned up in a spreadsheet far faster than manual entry.
  • Word counts and searching: plain text is easy to search, diff, and count in any editor.

Layout caveat: PDFs store position, not structure, so multi-column pages and complex tables come out in reading order that may need rearranging. For a faithful visual copy of pages instead, use PDF to JPG.
